Oracle is the latest company on a growing list of IT infrastructure vendors trying to use acquisitions to improve security.

Oracle said it would acquire Bharosa Inc., a maker of online tracking and authentication software. Oracle plans to add the technology to its single sign-on authorization tools. The company said Bharosa’s technology will put it in a better position to provide customers with the next generation of access management.

Hasan Rizvi, vice president of identity management and security products at Oracle said the company is building a full fledged identity management suite with real-time fraud prevention.

That is, of course, if Oracle takes care in how it integrates Bharosa into the mix. We’ve seen in the past that users sometimes grow unhappy with their security tools after they pass into the hands of a new parent company.
